Seven Questions for Justin Bettman

1. Tell us about yourself.

I am a photographer based in Los Angeles, CA.
2. How did you discover your love for photography?

Growing up, my dad always was interested in photography as a hobby. When I was in high school, I started a small clothing company. I borrowed his camera to take pictures of bands wearing the clothing and learned that I liked photography more than running a clothing company.
3. What inspires you and your work?

I love to use photography to tell a cohesive story in a single frame. Inspiration comes from all over, it’s hard to find where and how it comes to me . 
4. Why did you choose broncolor?

I love all the various options for light shapers that I have with broncolor. I also find it really convenient with the Siros L heads that you can shoot on location with lots of power without needing a pack or power source.
5. What is your favorite broncolor tool?

I’m partial towards soft light so I use a 5’ Octabank on almost every shoot. I also love the P65 reflector whenever I’m trying to recreate sunlight. Lastly, if I’m shooting in studio I really love the Para 133 and how versatile that shaper is.
6. How would you describe your “lighting style”?

I like to use motivated light sources so that my work feels cinematic and hyper realistic.
